Technical Features
RH IPTV has four key components that deliver flexible, scalable convergence and functionality:
Reception
A SAT TV streamer converts satellite TV broadcasts into an IP format. The head end is located at the satellite dish connection and is part of the vessel’s reception system. This system is scalable from four to up to tens of streaming channels.
Local content from CCTV or ECDIS systems can also be easily implemented.
Transport
RH IPTV works via the vessel’s plug-and-play IP network. This is IGMP V3-enabled for TV channel zapping.
Endpoint
Users can access RH IPTV from their TV screen. RH IPTV works with a Linux-powered set-top box and TV screen at the end-user’s location. This standard equipment can be plugged into any IP outlet, eliminating the need for coax runs and providing ultimate flexibility.
RH IPTV server
This server provides all streaming Video on Demand (VOD) and Music on Demand (MOD content from its hard discs. The RH IPTV server software (middleware) runs on standard
Linux platforms. The modular and flexible server system acts as a controller for the RH IPTV environment, delivering a centralized intelligence for all end-user interfaces.
