FleetBroadband a cost-effective solution

March 5 2008

The official launch of FleetBroadband by Inmarsat was in November 2007. FleetBroadband offers state-of-the-art communication solutions to vessels sailing the Atlantic- and Indian Ocean region. Availability on a global basis will follow soon after the successful launch of the third I-4 satellite. This event is scheduled for March/April this year.

The strong point of FleetBroadband is that it is a very cost-effective solution which can help you safe money in your operational expenses. FleetBroadband is a powerful tool to reduce on fuel costs by using real-time routing and weather updates which are easily accessible by this broadband solution. It also gives crew members – sailing for months – the possibility to contact their family and friends easily, which improves the crew morale. Other possible applications are remote company intranet access, large file transfer, videoconferencing and of course email and webmail. FleetBroadband provides constant, simultaneous access to voice and high-speed data services.

Radio Holland – as a Thrane & Thrane distributor – delivers the approved terminals FB500 and FB250 and the Inmarsat FleetBroadband services. Both terminals support 4 kBps voice, Group 3 fax and standard 3G SMS. The F500 has also ISDN capabilities (64 kbps).
